While we are in Uganda, we will be visiting the Youth For Christ office. This office does a mighty work for the youth of Uganda!
The men on the team will spend some time with the male YFC staff and volunteers, just mentoring them and encouraging them. They will also be going to a school and sharing some very powerful testimonies of God's grace and goodness!
The ladies will be visiting the Mirembe House. This is the house where pregnant teens are mentored, encouraged, and, hopefully, reunited with their families. These girls range anywhere from 12-19, and many are victims of rape or abuse. We want to just encourage and love on these girls.
The women will also be visiting the Suubi Home. This home is designed for women who were originally in the Mirembe House, but for some reason (safety, availability, etc) they are not able to be reunited with their families. These women are mentored and trained in parenting and in how to live on their own. What a privileged to just meet and encourage these ladies!
I am also very excited that I will get to meet the little girl I've recently started sponsoring through YFC. Her mother was at the Mirembe House, and the two of them now live with grandma. It's a struggle to survive, but with sponsorship, "my" little girl gets to go to school! Wow, God, what an awesome opportunity.
