Hi, All!! We are now just under two months before we head to Ethiopia and Uganda! Thank you for tuning into “Mary & Robert’s Africa Trip” blog that they so kindly allowed all of us to hijack.
How awesome is it to know that the Lord goes BEFORE us?! Not just to Africa, although I am so relieved He will be there before I am, but in everyday life; at work, at home, in your relationships and with our neighbors (if we let Him), … have you remembered to ask Him to go before you? Have you replayed recently all the evidence in your life where He has been so faithful and touched even the smallest of things in your behalf? Let me tell you, if you start listing, they’ll really add up and encourage your faith and boldness :o]
Going on this trip has really pressed me to trust Him in a lot of different ways. Practically ALL of the things are a stretch for me but I am finding confirmation of His faithfulness falling on me like rain. In fact, several times He has just plain cracked me up! Our Dad is hilarious!
I was relieved to be reminded that when you desire to impact others with the love of Christ that it is not based on our qualifications but on God’s goodness. He says we are completely sufficient because He is in us! By the power of His Holy Spirit, He has made us able ministers – whew! What a relief! We are totally sufficient in Him! I can’t tell you how happy that makes me…it’s not me it’s Him.
I am also tickled for yet another simple reminder that when He calls us then He already has provision. He is so creative, generous, equipping and funny, whether it be calling upon others for prayer support, encouragement or financial support. He moves and covers it all. That would be because our Father is a “YES AND AMEN” Father! It is His great pleasure to meet our needs and exceed them – for His glory!
One of his sweet gifts recently was 40 soccer balls for the children!! Seriously! 40!! Since God provided them he must know how to pack really well! I have visions of soccer ball hats tied to each team member’s head, or tennis shoe pompoms or key chain fobs (?) !
Thanks so much to each one of you who bought peaches. That was a tremendous blessing. We are still raising funds for outreach and VBS. We are also looking into the possible purchase of several solar powered mega voice boxes which would bring the Word in their native language in a practical ways since many cannot read. We’ll have several other gifts we’ll be looking to purchase so we’ll keep you posted.
Thank you also for praying for our team, for the precious people we will interact with and thank you for doing so with GREAT EXPECTATION.
You are all such treasured friends to us!!
With Love,
Susan and the Team

Best wishes and safe travels. Irene
