One of the couples in this group, Jay and Kimberly, are very involved in global missions. They travel with their church at least once a year to Ethiopia.
One evening after study, Kimberly mentioned the idea of a couple's trip to Africa. I (Mary) was immediately sold.
For the last couple of months the "big picture" things have been talked about, the estimated dates thrown around, and the list of interested couples has been decided. But, last week, things got real.
We are now just a few weeks away from purchasing air fare, we are getting reading assignments, and I got a series of shots that made my doctor say "where on earth are you going?!" From October 10th through the 25th, we will be in Ethiopia and Uganda. For information on exactly what we are doing, check out my fancy video: here.

WOW! As a teenager, I traveled to Belize for a short-term trip. I know that this adventure isn't really about what Mary and Robert have to "offer" Africa. This is about changing our hearts to love people, all people, the way Jesus does. I CANNOT WAIT!

Mary, I am so encouraged and inspired by what you have done to put this blog all together, to share your heart about what we will be doing together, and to see your excitement for it! Early this evening I was discouraged and this truly lifted my spirits. God has a great purpose and plan for us all - for those we minister to, for each of us, for us as couples and for us as a team!
